Guestbook Entry

  1. Rena, in “Warriors” you gave one of the finest performances I have ever seen or am likely to see. Not only that, you came across as a lovely, vibrant woman. I read of your own family tragedy and I would like to send you love and best wishes for a very happy and successful future. You`re an inspiration in my book. Magic people are scarce, sadly, on our planet. You are one. Thank you.

  2. Loved you in the movie Once were warriors great job. We haven’t seen What becomes of the broken hearted yet but were going to. see ya in the movies
    Sincerely Melissa

  4. Hi, my name is Rebekah.

I would like to comment on your performances in Once Were Warriors, What Becomes of the Broken Hearted and Piece of my Heart. I believe no one else could have done a better job. You are an incredible actress.

    Thanks

  5. We loved your performance of Aroha in “The Pohutakawa Tree”. Incredibly strong and moving. Very memorable. Look forward to seeing more from you on the NZ scene.

  6. Tena koe e te tuahine Rena,
Congrats & Lovely to see you as Cover Story and on the cover of Mana Magazine, Issue 90 and to read your interview wtih Katherine Findlay. Lovely to catch-up with you in the tabloids. Also very aware of your current work on The Pohutukawa Tree down in Tamaki Makaurau there. All the very best and will see you over the festive season perhaps, at the Klondike Moerewa. Arohanui, na Meretini x

  7. Rena,
On Saturday the 19th of September 2009 I attended The Pohutukawa Tree at the Maidment Theatre at Auckland University. I am fairly new to the theatre going experience and have attended all of ATC’s productions this year. I have to say your performance in this play moved me to the point of a blubbering mess (luckily I waited till I got to my car before breaking down). My girlfriend and I had a great discussion about the how’s and whys it affected me so much and why I empathised with your character “Aroha”. I guess it just came down to my lack of knowledge of New Zealand history (although me being born and raised here), and my slight ignorance of Maori culture/history. I felt for “Aroha” and fully understood her motivation, right up to the end. Not only was it your performance, but the play as a whole opened my eyes a little more to New Zealand’s somewhat intrepid history. I just want to say thank you for the amazing experience, and thank you for moving me in such a way. Good luck with your future endeavours, and thank you once again.

  8. I have bought Flow Design, a clothing business from Wellington. I heard that you wore a Flow Design one-shouldered dress to the Oscars. Can you tell me what year it was and better still, any photo’s?

Best wishes and good luck with everything you are doing. Proud Kiwi!
